Annabelle Cumyn, M.D, C.M.
Annabelle Cumyn is a specialist in internal medicine who graduated from McGill University with a master’s degree in health sciences education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is Professor of Specialized Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Université de Sherbrooke. She chaired the Human Health Research Ethics Committee until 2022. She is a research member of the Groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire en informatique de la santé de l’Université de Sherbrooke and of the Observatoire international sur les impacts sociétaux de l’AI et du numérique (axe éthique, gouvernance et démocratie). She sits on several committees (e.g. the Interagency Advisory Panel on Research Ethics of the three Canadian federal research agencies SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC) and working groups (Fonds de recherche du Québec, HDRN). Her interdisciplinary CLARET research program focuses on the Quebec citizen’s perspective on the secondary use of health data in the context of a learning healthcare system. Her other research interests include research feedback, physician social responsibility and curriculum development in obstetrical medicine.
